Perrier Jouet’s 200 Year Anniversary

At The Lowry Hotel, Manchester

Late November 2011, I was recommended to Pernod Ricard for a Perrier Jouet Bicentenary Celebration event being held at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester on 30th November 2011

Finally my Commercial Photographer networking was starting to pay off! I spoke with Philippa at Pernod Ricard explained that I had to be away from the event by about 4pm latest as I had to get home and back into Manchester later for a Bryan Adams concert at the MEN

Philippa explained the purpose of the event and that they wanted a variety of shots; their guests enjoying themselves, details of the champagne and some portraits of their Mentors and Muse’s, similar to the ones we had at the main Bi-Centenary in London. “The guy who did them is pretty famous” Philippa explained and sent me a PDF of the portraits.

That guy just happened to be Lorenzo Agius. I looked at the portraits and thought hmmm, they are pretty damn good (understatement..). Thought I’d better take a look at Lorenzo’s website www.lorenzo-agius.com. My jaw dropped a bit as the onset of a cold sweat and pressure started to build up. From what I can tell, unless they passed away before Lorenzo picked up his first camera, there’s not a single Hollywood star he hasn’t photographed

A great day. Just a shame I was working as I love Champagne and would loved to have tried some of expensive stuff. I was offered, but respectfully declined:-(

Just to keep me on my toes, the portraits Lorenzo Agius took in London were there on display (see the image below).

Oh and we got a slight telling off by one of the hotel managers. I set up for the portraits at the end of a corridor, pretty much out of everyone’s way. But it turned out a VIP was staying there that day (Bryan Adams) and they didn’t obviously want some photographer catching a sly shot of him.

The client was extremely happy with the images and Philippa was gracious enough to provide a great testimonial
